Recovery doesn’t mean the same thing to everyone. It is a very personal choice, and there are many pathways to freedom from addiction.
Some require medical detox – some participate in meetings – some do neither. Some believe in complete abstinence, while others work closely with a physician to assist with cravings, withdrawal symptoms, etc. Some rely heavily on religion, and others on science or behavioral modification.
Recovery is not a one-size-fits-all box. It can look very different to all of us, and it is vital to have supports for your individual needs.
